A look back before jumping forward

2007 was my 4th year racing bikes, filled with ups and downs like most seasons. The biggest change over past years was racing triathlons. I made the decision to concentrate on them early in the year. Learning to swim was the biggest challenge, never really got that fast at it but good enough.

To start the triathlon training process I entered a few duathlons. The off road duathlon in KC had to be one of the most enjoyable races of the year. Some days when on the MTB you feel like you can do nothing wrong and always pick the right line, that day was one of them.

My first triathlon was a blast. Big time event hosted by Ultramax held at Innsbrook made for a great event, not to mention I won my age group and came in 4th overall. My next two triathlons, Show me State Games and Babler Beast, went just as well with a 2nd and 3rd place showing. Those were fun races that required a great deal of planning when it came to training.

After the triathlon season was over it was time to switch my focus to cyclocross. 2005 was my first year of cyclocross racing 5 races in all. The next year, now in MO, I found the Bubba Cross Series and raced in 7 races. This year it was full steam ahead with 10 races. Over the past three years of cyclocross I've found this type of racing to be at the top of my list. Overall this year had some major ups and downs but it was a fun season. I'd say the Hermann weekend was the highlight of the season, the racing and hosting were very enjoyable. Hope to get a new frame soon for next year.

So there you have it, 2007 is over and I'm ready for a short break. I'll get back to structured training in January.

To all that visit this site, to all I've met this year and to all I've raced with, it's been great sharing it with you. Have a great Christmas season, see you next year.

  5. John - It is about the long haul, you're right, easy to forget sometimes.

Rich - This place has some good video, they helped me alot. Respect the water. http://totalimmersion.net/products-dvds.html

Rudy - I think the high amount of running hurt me a bit this year. Plus, I go with what motivates me, right now tri's are not it.

TT and RR very early information can be found here.
