Tour of Hermann, 1 month away

The Tour of Hermann is fast approaching. Seems like there is always some type of activity needing to be completed all year long. It might be city permits, ordering custom medals, you name it there is never a month of the year that goes by that does not require something.

Now that we are 30 days away things really start to ramp up. More an more athletes are starting to register from all over, even one from Minnesota entered the other day.

Today I picked up volunteer T-Shirts. John at Dogfish Apparel always comes through with a nice T.

Hadley tried one on today and gives it here full endorsement, says if you want to help here is what is needed.

Multi-File/Range Analysis

This month, one day a week, I do a variable power workout. 2 x 10 min @ (350-360 watts, 40 sec on, 20 sec rest).

I like it when this workout comes up, it's challenging and fun, plus it a great workout to plug into the new Multi-File/Range Analysis tool that comes with the Training Peaks WKO+3 upgrade.

This is an awesome feature to gauge progress. I've done this workout twice now, the image below compairs interval 1 from week 1 (yellow) vs. interval 1 from week 2 (green). Slight improvement made over week 1 as the green line in most cases hovers above the yellow, KJ's were a bit higher and was TSS. Nice to confirm progress is being made.

In other news, looks like I'm in for the first Team Seagal Mid Fork non race in May. No date just yet, hope it's on a Sunday, I'll know soon.

Lost Valley is just under two weeks away. It's a crap shoot as to what the trail conditions will be like. Had plans Sunday to ride three laps out there, looks like it won't be an option with rain and snow in the forecast. Sunday may end up being a gravel ride. Regardless I'm very much looking forward to my first race of the season.

The Fork

First timer for this trail and what a trail it is. Close to 15 riders showed up for this one all of whom were ready to get out and ride trails, shed those knee and arm warmers, winter boots and scull caps that we've been forced to wear this year.

This day was awesome; sun shine and perfect temps to spend nearly 4 hours under.

Lots of riders from all over but the DRJ guys set the lead pace so I hung out with them. I stayed in the rear to learn some tips and techniques from these seasoned riders. I did not walk away disappointed.

The new bike was awesome. I guess when your bike does not draw attention to its self during the ride allowing you to just focus on riding, then I guess you have a perfect bike, this one delivers!

As I was riding I kept thinking to my self, "I can't believe there is not a race on these trails"?? Then a day later this pops up, sweet! Post card goes in the mail today.

I smell spring

With over night lows above freezing starting this Friday and a high of near 60 on Sunday I'm thinking the good times are about to roll, spring like days are here!

With local trails a mess until they dry out a trip down south with a rocky footing is in order. Quick email to the Nick at Team Red Wheel and game is on for this Sunday.

This will be my first time on this trail and the first real ride on the new MTB . Can't wait!

Meet us at the Middle Fork parking lot off of DD. Ride rolls out at 10:00.
