Not Much in May

May has been a month of training only. Any MTB races were cancelled and plans changed for this coming weekend and I will not be at Wheels over Wildwood.

I have had some good training days and the powertap tool has been very useful.

May may have been much to do about nothing but June will make up for it. Starting June 7 is Rhett's Run. I can't wait for this race, then Dawndi and I competed together again for our annual Route 66 Due, and finally Winghaven on June 21.

Then in July the dirt crits start! Before you know it will be September and all will be right in the world as cross season starts.

Weekend update

4" of rain for most in the area Friday had my plans to visit Cosmo park on Sunday in question not knowing if it would be a mud pit or not. With Friday afternoon and all day Saturday to dry and took my chances that it would be rideable and headed out the door early Sunday AM.

The track was in great shape, a few puddles here and there, just enough to make a mess of my bike, but overall the place was in great shape. I pre-loaded my Maxxix Cross Mark tires, determined to give these a try. I kept reading they were slippery on rocks and wet roots so I've been apprehensive it trying them. For me, they hooked up awesome, wish I would have put them on sooner!

Kept things easy out there for a few hours, I was there to get to know the course for the June 7 race and work on handling skills.

The rest of the day was manual labor efforts in the yard with mowing and heavy lifting as I loaded and unloaded two truck bed loads of rock for some landscaping.

Next race is Wheels over Wildwood, TT and Crit over Memorial Day weekend.

Rain (good for the grass, bad for MTB races)

Rain most of the week coupled with a forecast for more over the weekend resulted in the cancellation of my MTB race on Sunday. No MTB races now till June.

Opted for a group ride with a few from Hermann, nice 60 mile 3 hour ride. The brisk pace then left the rest of the day open for some yard work.

Powertap arrived Friday, did a 15 min test Saturday.

Cross races in Hermann are set up on the web - Bearcat cross and Hermann Cross Under the lights.

This week is nothing special, hope to get out Cosmo park on Sunday.
