Tour of Missouri News

We were in STL yesterday on our weekly Estate sale adventure when something completely unexpected happened.

When we were done with estates sales we headed down to Delmar, Dawndi went into Donnaland and I headed over to the Big Shark bike shop. While there I met up with Mike Weiss, we started talking about the Tour of MO and Hermann. Come to find out plans are to bring the race right in through Hermann.

During stage 5 they plan to take a right on hwy 19 from hwy 94 into Hermann, loop through town then out on the roads linking back up to Washington to finish up on HWY94 to St Charles.

Mike gave me the name and number for the director of Hermann Tourism who he has been working with to help get the town ready for the race. I gave him a call last night to let him know I would be happy to volunteer to help in anyway I can (left a message). Might be helpful to have someone on the planning team who can provide a bike racing perspective to things.

Who knows where this will lead but the potential opportunity to help out with the this race is sweet. More news to follow after I hear back from the Tourism guy.

  1. I can see it now. "For 2008, Jeff Y has been selected race director for the Tour of Missouri."
Sounds like it could be a good opptunity for you the town and the local biking community. It is like the Ragu - when it comes to town - biking really benefits.
    Good luck with Froze Toes.

Too bad my daughter is getting married on that day. :( Maybe I can catch the race in St. Louis on Sunday.
