VDO MC1.0 Review
Took the VDO on it's first adventure last weekend during the Hermann ride. Basic features of any cycling computer are there. What I was looking for was a way to measure elevation gained. What I got was that, gradient % and temperature.
The elevation information does measure off barometric pressure so don't expect perfection. You can set it to your beginning ride elevation, ride for three hours, come back to the same place and your starting elevation will be different. For me the difference was about 100 feet. Not that big a deal unless you are anal and 100 feet worth of variance keeps you up at night.
The temperature reading is a nice to have.
Gradient % does have some read out delays. I found that it takes some time for the readout to display an increased %. Also, if you hit a very short hill then level off, you may not get a readout at all. However, it does seem accurate.
This is a good tool for those who ride hills and don't want to spend $300 on a GPS system.
